Southern Utah University’s Michael O. Leavitt Center for Politics and Public Service will welcome U.S. Congressman Chris Stewart on Thursday, March 28, at 7:30 p.m. in the Sterling Church Auditorium. The town hall-style meeting aims to give community members an opportunity to voice questions and concerns directly to their congressman.
The event, which will open with a short introduction from Congressman Stewart before turning the discussion over to the audience, is free, and the public is encouraged to attend.
This is Congressman Stewart’s first time returning to his elected district and, according to the Leavitt Center’s executive director, Eric Kirby, “is our chance to hold our elected official accountable and receive a direct report from Congressman Stewart on what he has done with our votes.”
Topics addressed during the event will be solely based upon the questions asked and can range from international relations to local concerns.
“I hope that all come and attend this meeting because this is a great chance for me to hear your views about the critical issues facing our nation,” said Congressman Stewart. “Whether you want to voice concerns about public lands, the budget or national security, your views are important, and I want to hear them.”
Representative Stewart is a New York Times best-selling author, world record-setting Air Force pilot and a small business owner. This is his first term as a U.S. Congressman, representing Utah’s second congressional district, which covers the majority of southern and western Utah.
