Local Kids 'Flippin' Birds' for Gymnastics

Your Flippin' Birds will host an open gym fundraiser on Friday night to benefit SUU Gymnastics, providing one-on-one instruction from SUU gymnasts and coaches for local youth.

In what may well become a tradition, given the event's high demand its first time around in October, local children will be able to spend their Friday night at play with collegiate gymnasts, as they try their hand on the gymnastics equipment at the Harris Center practice facility for just $5 per person.

Assistant gymnastics coach Kari Louthan said the small-scale open fundraiser last month was a bigger success than they had anticipated. "Several people have asked us to do it again, and we had a great time. Our team really enjoyed interacting with the community, and we look forward to doing it again this weekend."

The open gym fundraiser is scheduled for Friday, November 15, from 7–8:30 p.m. and is open to children ages 3 to 18. Those in attendance may also purchase Flippin' Bird t-shirts for a reduced price of $8, that night only.

The gymnastics program will offer a similar open gym fundraiser to SUU students on November 22.
