Southern Utah will look to clinch its third winning season in the last four years and post the highest number of wins in the Ed Lamb era Saturday when the Thunderbirds take on Weber State at Stewart Stadium in Ogden, Utah.
Bring on the Thunderbird blitz in Wildcat territory this Saturday, November 9, against the Thunderbirds’ only in-conference, in-state rival. Competition against Weber State brings with it a great opportunity for the Thunderbird true to showcase their pride and boost their team. Tickets to the game in SUU’s designated section.
The Thunderbirds are coming off a bye week which followed a 19-9 home win over Idaho State on Oct. 26. With the win over ISU Southern Utah notched its third six-win season in the last four campaigns. SUU needs one more win to give Coach Lamb his first seven-win season as well as to clinch a winning record with the 12-game schedule.
Weber State (1-8/0-5 Big Sky) broke a season-opening seven-game losing streak with a 24-22 win over the Thunderbirds in Cedar City last year, and the Wildcats will be looking for a similar outcome Saturday. WSU opened the 2013 season with a 50-40 home win over Stephen F. Austin but has not posted another win since, a stretch of eight games.
Loyalty’s perks extend beyond rivalry’s thrill, and the SUU Alumni Association, in partnership with the Thunderbird Club and SUUSA, invites all Thunderbirds to join with generations of fellow SUU fans in a free SUU tailgate party from 11:30 am. to 12:30 p.m. in lot W5 of the Shaw Arena parking lot before the game, which kicks off at 1 p.m.
