Toasty Welcome Back to Warm Your Feathers

With the weather outside frightful and the idea of doing homework not so delightful, Southern Utah University Student Association (SUUSA) is making the first week of the 2014 Spring Semester the place to go. An action packed week has been slated to make for a toasty Welcome Back Week for all T-Birds to warm their feathers over.
SUUSA is bringing T-Bird Nation a weeklong series of events to help all students acclimate to the wintry weather and prepare them a semester packed. Each event is free for all students with a valid student ID. The activities will run from January 6-11 and all are free for every student with a valid SUU student ID card.
The 2014 Welcome Back Week includes:
Monday, January 6:
Starting the first day back to school with a green screen, a chair and a camera, SUUSA is giving you a photo booth that delivers you flying on the back of an eagle over Zion’s Canyon—most legendary photo booth to date. The activities continue with the annual Red/White Preview for SUU Gymnastics at 5 p.m. in the Centrum Arena. Directly following the scrimmage, the BCS College Football Championships, Florida State University versus Auburn University, will be screened.
Tuesday, January 7:
Knowing that college isn’t just about going to classes, SUUSA is hosting Club Fair. Every students’ chance to see what types of clubs are offered, you can meander through the many booths and find their perfect fit from 4-6 p.m. in the Living Room. Following the Club Fair, Enders Game will be screened in the Ballroom beginning at 8 p.m., bring blankets and pillows to get comfy.
Wednesday, January 8:
To loosen up the stress that comes with the first week of classes, SUUSA is hosting class act Gary Petersen. A Boston comedy veteran, Petersen will begin his performance at 8 p.m. in the Sterling Church Auditorium.
Thursday, January 9:
Bringing in some regional talent, SUUSA will host three bands that have roots in Utah and Las Vegas beginning at 8:30 p.m. in the Centrum Arena. Strange Family and Offset Season will open up for Oh, Be Clever, all of which will warm up campus.
Friday, January 10:
A SUU favorite has been added to this week’s event roster, Casino Night will be a formal affair for all T-Birds to risk and wager their lunch money in the classiest of forms. Casino Night will begin at 8 p.m. in the Great Hall, come in your gowns and suits for a night that’s sure to impress.
Saturday, January 11:
On your first weekend in T-Bird Territory in 2014 school year, celebrate in true Thunderbird style by attending the Men’s Basketball game versus Sacramento State University at 7 p.m. in the Centrum Arena.
