Glean Economic Insight in Business Speaker Series

The SUU School of Business will continue its popular Wells Fargo Speaker Series for the semester with Fred Dickson, senior vice president and chief investment strategist at D.A. Davidson & Co. Dickson will be presenting “Economic and Market Outlook Opportunities and Challenges” on Thursday, March 20, at 11:30 a.m. in the Starlight Room of the Sharwan Smith Center.

As with all of the Wells Fargo presentations, it will be free and open to the public.

Dickson’s presentation will take an in-depth look at the health of the current economic expansion and the stock market, what’s happening to gold, energy and bonds.

This presentation by a highly successful businessman will be a unique opportunity for students and locals from Cedar City to learn about the business world and how economics works.

He is a member of the New York Society of Securities Analysts and is a regular guest on CNBC and Bloomberg Radio. He is widely quoted by national publications and wire services, including the Wall Street Journal and Reuters.

Dickson originally joined Davidson & Co. in 1993 as Director of Research and Chief Market Strategist before joining Branch Cabell 1997 in Virginia. After a four-year stint with Branch Cabell, Dickson re-joined D.A. Davidson & Co. in 2001.  

Dickson has been in the investment line of work since 1973 and has become extremely qualified in the field. He began his career as part of Goldman Sach’s top-ranked investment strategy team before serving as an institutional portfolio manager and chief investment officer with several money management firms.

Dickson holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Pennsylvania State University and an MBA from the State University of New York at Buffalo.

He has also served on faculty staffs at different universities. He was an adjunct professor for the University of Richmond in Virginia and a faculty member at the New York Institute of Finance.

Dickson will be available to answer any questions regarding the economy after the presentation. Refreshments will be served. 

Other speakers that will join the Wells Fargo Speaker’s roster this semester will be representatives from Café Zupas, DA Davison and Xi3 Corporation.
