Kenny Loggins to Headline Thank You from SUU

Legendary singer songwriter Kenny Loggins will help SUU close a seven-year fundraising initiative, when he performs in a free concert hosted by the University to thank its many friends, alumni and donors and the campus community for their generosity and support throughout The Future is Rising: The Campaign for Southern Utah University.

Loggins’ performance during the Campaign Appreciation Celebration, appropriately timed to fall on the University’s March 27 Founders’ Day, will follow the groundbreaking for SUU’s Beverley Taylor Sorenson Center for the Arts, long-anticipated cultural boon to the region’s arts community made possible through The Future is Rising Campaign.

Thousands of donors — alumni, employees, friends, foundations and businesses — have come together in support of SUU and its students. We are eager to bring the broad Thunderbird community together to, first, mark one of the campaign’s crowning accomplishments at the groundbreaking and, then, celebrate the University’s unprecedented success in its recent fundraising efforts.

The 3 p.m. groundbreaking will be held at the future site of the Beverley Taylor Sorenson Center for the Arts, on the grounds of the Randall L. Jones Theatre. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in SUU’s Centrum Arena.

The comprehensive campaign, led by former SUU President Michael T. Benson until his departure last June, exceeded the University’s initial $100 million campaign goal. Details of the University’s strides throughout the campaign and a final announcement of its fundraising success will be shared at the March 27 celebration.

“We cannot say thank you enough,” said Vice President for Institutional Advancement Stuart Jones. “It is our hope that the forthcoming festivities will help us bring the University’s past, present and future together, as we recognize our founders’ great sacrifice and vision, highlight our most recent strides and open the doors to a very bright future.”

In addition to a full concert from Grammy Award-winning artist Kenny Loggins, the March 27 celebration will include a performance from one of America’s finest Beatles tribute bands, The Return. The University is grateful to the corporate sponsors and donors who are helping make this evening possible.

Though tickets to the event are free, they must be reserved in advance, as seating is limited. Tickets may be obtained at the Centrum Ticket Office, by calling 435-586-7872, or online at www.tbirdtickets.com code: public
