Ribbon cutting of School of Business classroom funded by the Deloitte Foundation.Southern Utah University hosted a dedication ceremony on Friday, September 12 for the recently renovated School of Business classroom, made possible by the generous donations from the Deloitte Foundation.

The classroom makeover was funded by the Deloitte Foundation along with SUU alumnus Vince Roshdahl, who is a partner at Deloitte Tax. Both are extensions of Deloitte, an accounting and financial advisory firm that over the years has supported SUU’s School of Business by hiring SUU graduates in Las Vegas and California Bay Area, employing students for internships and gifting multiple scholarships, including $15,000 in the upcoming year to accounting students.

Rosdahl, according to Carl Templin, dean of the School of Business, has been a constant advocate of the University and specifically chose to renovate classroom 102 because of the time he personally spent in the room. Rosdahl currently serves on the School of Business National Advisory Board.

Jeffrey Barnes, professor of accounting, said of the donation, “This Deloitte relationship has provided wonderful support for numerous annual accounting scholarships over the past decades. Also, because we now have our former students busting through to top tier positions of this international accounting firm, more stakeholder support is flowing to SUU's accountancy program.”

The renovations included new laminate on the tables, paint, motorized projection screen, upgraded chairs, podium and “Deloitte Foundation” in raised gold letters. This is the third classroom named and renovated in the Dixie Leavitt Business Building, each funded by a foundation/business.

SUU accounting students currently boasts a 100 percent employment placement for undergraduates. The program also holds 90 percent employment placement for masters of accountancy students within six months of graduation.
