It’s no secret that Southern Utah University is home to many talented and charismatic gentlemen, all of whom are given the chance to share their personality, school spirit and talents at the annual Mr. SUU pageant on April 2 at 7 p.m. in the Sterling R. Church Auditorium in the Sharwan Smith Student Center.

Molly Cosby, SUUSA event director, said the ideal Mr. SUU should be dedicated to the university, confident and committed to themselves and possess a unique or interesting personality.

Cosby describes the pageant as “pure fun”, explaining that although the contestants put a lot of work and thought into their performances, it is more of a relaxed and enjoyable environment than the Miss SUU pageant during homecoming.

Ryan Bailey, reigning Mr. SUU, said what makes the event fun is recognizing the unique personalities of all the contestants.

“There are a variety of characters involved,” he said. “Luckily, all of the guys were chill and there were no rivalries.”

Looking back on his year with the crown, Bailey said he has tried to embody the title of Mr. SUU by “having as much school pride as possible, being a good student, and an example to future Mr. SUU’s.”
