SUU hosts impressive booth at Salt Lake Comic Con

Amongst the throng of super heroes, villains, Hobbits and Sith lords, Southern Utah University hosted the inaugural Ultimate Childhood Championship at the third largest Comic Convention in Salt Lake City from September 24-26.

With red lights glowing off the silver scaffolding the SUU booth at Salt Lake Comic Con was hard to miss with a horde of comic book and fantasy characters crowding around to win one of the 180 tickets for the first Utah premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Contestants competed by playing childhood games such as Hungry Hungry Hippos, Jenga, Connect 4 and Don’t Break the Ice.

The booth quickly became one of the most popular attractions at Comic Con and was featured on KSL News. During the three day event, SUU gave away 180 tickets to the very first public showing of Star Wars: The Force Awakens in Utah December 17 where SUU will host its own private screening of the premiere at the District in South Jordan, Utah.

Salt Lake Comic Con is currently the third largest convention of its kind in the world — only San Diego and New York City draw more people. However, when measured per capita, Salt Lake is considered the biggest Comic Con in the United States.

More tickets to SUU’s premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be given away throughout the fall to both current SUU students and prospective students through Red Riots and scholarship open houses.
