SUU’s Aviation Program Soars in a New Direction Southern Utah University announced today that its moving the Aviation Program in-house taking full control over the program. The university will explore all operational aspects and make changes that will positively impact the students.

One of those changes includes having all faculty and staff be SUU employees instead of outside contracts. SUU will provide the academic instruction, flight training, and maintenance and repair services.

“By bringing the aviation team in-house, the program is more unified, which will naturally result in better student outcomes, expanded opportunities, lower costs and a strong pathway to professional careers,” said SUU President Scott L Wyatt.

“Our singular purpose is to serve our students as economically feasible as possible, and we believe that this change will create more cohesion and enhance the student experience,” said Ellen Treanor, executive director of brand strategy at SUU.

SUU will continue to offer training in Rotor Wing (helicopter) and Fixed Wing Pilot (airplane) components with the goal to expand the fixed wing program. The Professional Pilot Program offers licenses and ratings in areas ranging from Private Pilot to Certified Flight Instructor.
