The Department of Languages and Philosophy will host The International Film Festival, Cinematic Dialogues February 6 through 17. Screenings are free and open to the public, and films will be subtitled. Participating languages include French, Spanish, German and Mandarin.
Screenings begin each evening at 5 p.m. in the Sharwan Smith Center Theatre, Room 161D. Offering unique insight from field experience, related experts will introduce each film and lead a post-film discussion.
“This inaugural film festival is designed to serve both the SUU campus and larger community,” stated the organizers of the festival. “It will provide ample material for discussion about the influence of culture and promote other inclusive events that highlight diversity and promote awareness and acceptance.”
The following films will be featured:
February 6 La Cour de Babel/School of Babel, French, introduced by Gateway Preparatory Academy Teacher Erin Waldman, a graduate of SUU.
February 8 Las Marthas/The Marthas, Spanish, introduced by the filmmaker, Cristina Ibarra.
February 10 Die Mörder Sind Unter Uns/The Murderers are Among Us, German, introduced by German Professor Corey Twitchell.
