The Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference has announced the honorees for Academic All-MRGC on Tuesday afternoon, and every member of the Southern Utah University gymnastics team received the title for their performance in the classroom.
In order to make the list, student-athletes were required to conclude the 2016-17 season with a GPA of 3.2 or higher, which was a criteria met by all 18 members of the Flippin' Birds gymnastics team.
“I think our gymnasts truly do exemplify the meaning of term student-athlete,” SUU head coach Scotty Bauman said. “I'm incredibly proud of them, the hard work they put in, and the level of excellence they reach inside and outside of the classroom. They set their bar high in everything they do, and they continue to reach it.”
Southern Utah was the only MRGC program to have all student-athletes named to the list. In total, 55 student-athletes were honored by the MRGC on Tuesday.

Southern Utah broke several barriers this season on the floor of competition while excelling in the classroom, including setting a new school record on multiple occasions and having a gymnast score the first perfect 10 in the history of the program.
