A.P.E.X. Event Series: Art Students Roundtable

suu art department bfa showcaseThursday, March 29, the A.P.E.X. Event Series is featuring a special event at the heart of SUU and A.P.E.X. This event will feature several students whose work will be featured in the Senior B.F.A. Capstone Exhibition. There will be a roundtable discussion with these seniors about their experiences in their respective programs, the thoughts and energy put into their work, and how they feel it has prepared them for their careers. Join us in the Whiting Room of the Hunter Conference Center at 11:30 A.M. This event is free and open to the public.

The discussion will be comprised of the students:

  • Melissa Kruger - Graphic Design
  • Michelle Gray - Photography
  • Jordan Haskell - Motion Graphics
  • McKensie Cragun - Interactive/App Design
  • Sharilyn Shumway - Illustration
  • Lissy Edwards- Ceramics/Sculpture

The Senior B.F.A. Capstone Exhibition showcases the culmination of the undergraduate art studio experience for graduating students. It includes a written artist statement for each student and reveals the student’s ability to conceive, plan, and execute a body of work appropriate for a professional exhibition. This exhibit will include work from a variety of artistic disciplines: art education, graphic design, ceramics, sculpture, illustration, photography, painting, drawing, and printmaking.

All of the following events will take place in the Southern Utah Museum of Art (SUMA).
March 20 – May 5, 2018

Opening Reception
Thursday, March 22, 6-8 p.m.
“Celebrate the opening of the B.F.A. Senior Capstone exhibition as these students prepare to graduate from Southern Utah University. The reception is free and open to the public. Sponsored in part by SUU Department of Art & Design as well as Friends of SUMA.”

Gallery Talk
Thursday, April 12, 12 p.m.

“The A.P.E.X. Event Series is proud to present and create a platform for the students at SUU. Our art students are extremely talented with an eye for detail and a curiosity for all things creative, beautiful, and inspiring. Our team is extremely excited to learn about their work!”
