This is the same program that was recently designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security.

The CSIA graduate program is a rigorous 33-credit academic program that provides a set of cutting-edge cybersecurity curriculum. Students build strong theoretical foundations and receive intensive hands-on cybersecurity technical experience through virtual labs.

“The majority of our current CSIA students are cybersecurity and IT professionals,” said Dr. Dezhi Wu, director of the Cyber Security and Information Assurance Graduate Program and professor of information systems. “They highly regard our courses very challenging, practical, and directly beneficial to their professional jobs while being flexible for them to take courses effectively online.”

The core courses include Network Security, Advanced Persistent Threats, IT Project Management, IT Risk Management, and Research Methods. There are two emphases, one in Cyber and Web Security, the other in Government, Risk, and Compliance and IS Controls.

“Two cutting-edge Cyber Centers are newly established at SUU to strengthen our current Cyber Defense Education at both undergraduate and graduate levels,” said Wu. “This includes the Digital Forensics Center and the Cyber Operations Center.  We have a highly qualified group of dedicated and caring faculty members on the team to teach and support students’ education and growth in this fast-growing industry.”

SUU was the only school from Utah included in the ranking. The programs were ranked based on six informational categories: academic excellence, strength of faculty scholarship, reputation, financial aid, range of degree programs, and strength of online instruction methodology.
