Hosted by the SUU Rodeo Team, the Great American Stampede returns to Cedar City September 7-8 at the Cross Hollow Event Center, providing college rodeo at its best. Come enjoy some of the top collegiate athletes as they battle it out in the arena.
The rodeo will be chock-full of cowboy action with bull riding, saddle bronc and bareback bronc riding, steer wrestling, calf roping, and team roping. The cowgirls get in on the fun with barrel racing, goat tying, breakaway roping and team roping. This year’s rodeo will also feature the Diamond Z Shires, world-renowned trick rider, Brandi Phillips, and, back again, Randee Munns.
The opening ceremonies will feature demonstrations of fine horsemanship by The Great American Stampede Rodeo Royalty.
Over the course of the school year, the SUU Rodeo team travels to ten rodeos in Utah, Idaho and Colorado with the goal of competing at the College National Finals Rodeo each June in Casper, Wyoming. This weekend is their home rodeo for the year and a chance to share their talents with the SUU community.
SUU night will be Friday, September 7, with President and Mrs. Wyatt leading the grand entry. SUU students with ID can purchase tickets for $8 on Friday night only.
Tickets can be purchased at C-A-L Ranch, IFA, Jolley’s Ranchwear and at the gate. Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for children, ages 5-12. Children ages 4 and younger get in free. A family pass can be purchased for $30 for a family of six (including 2 adults and 4 children).
