Resolve to learn something new with your child, grandchild, or another loved one this year by registering for one of many affordable learning opportunities with Southern Utah University’s Community Education program.
SUU Community Education has partnered with the SUU STEM Teaching & Learning Center to offer a series of parent/child classes that can be taken as a whole, or as a single class. Four classes will be offered in March and April with fun, exciting hands-on learning activities in engineering, math, science and coding technology.
The Utah Shakespeare Festival has also partnered with SUU Community Education and will instruct parent/child classes in improvisation and stage combat in February. Beginner Stage Combat participants will learn a wide array of stage fighting techniques, including sword fighting, punching, slapping, and hair pulling. Improv with USF will teach skills that all actors need using entertaining games and skill-building activities to engage all family members.
“We are proud to bring so many of the learning opportunities that SUU has to offer together,” said SUU Community Education Executive Director Melynda Thorpe. “We provide a place for the community to bring their families and enjoy a night of bonding through educational and skill-building classes.”
SUU Community Education also has six cake decorating classes, such as Valentine’s Day-themed, making an aspen/birch tree cake, and decorating for beginners, for those who want to spend more time in the kitchen with their loved one. And, there are several other classes in art, Chinese, French, Spanish, American Sign Language, and more, that are designed to strengthen family bonding and create memories with enjoyable learning experiences for all.
