SUMA Rings in the New Year with New Hours

Starting Thursday, January 10, Southern Utah Museum of Art (SUMA), on the campus of Southern Utah University (SUU), will be open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The decision to change the museum’s hours for 2019 came from Jessica Farling, director/curator of SUMA. After adjusting hours and tracking attendance in 2018, Farling believes SUMA can serve more visitors by introducing a new set of hours and opening the museum’s doors for an extra day of the week - Monday.
“It is great that we can experiment with our hours and keep our finger on the pulse to see what truly works for this campus and community. We are looking forward to welcoming even more guests to the museum in 2019,” Farling said.
In 2018, SUMA saw an increase in visitors by 15 percent through showcasing exhibitions featuring nationally-recognized artists and offering more programming for families, adults and SUU students.
SUMA will be closed for gallery rotations until January 10, when IMPACT: An Exhibition of SUU Art & Design Faculty and Alumni opens. On Thursday, January 10 at 6 p.m., SUMA will host an opening reception for IMPACT, where visitors will have a chance to view the art for the first time and meet with some of the exhibiting faculty, alumni and current students.
