Al FarrowA.P.E.X. Events, in collaboration with the Southern Utah Museum of Art (SUMA), presents sculptor Al Farrow! Farrow’s exhibit, Wrath & Reverence, uses materials from firearms, bullets, bone, glass, and steel, to create opulent replicas of structures within the world’s three major religions. You can hear all about the behind-the-scenes details about Farrow’s exhibit at the A.P.E.X. Event on September 19th, at 11:30 a.m., in the Great Hall on the campus of Southern Utah University. This event is free and open to the public.

Concluding a national tour, Al Farrow’s exhibit entitled, Wrath & Reverence, can be found in Cedar City’s Southern Utah Museum of Art. An exhibit that spurs conversation concerning the complicated relationship between religion and war throughout human history. In an interview with 21c Museum Hotels, Farrow discussed the hypocrisy that disturbed him concerning the past of religion and war.

“...we send priests, preachers, and rabbi’s into war as clerics in the army to bless the soldiers and to encourage them and tell that God is on their side and then we give them their last rights when they get shot-up,” said Farrow. “That’s not the role. One of the commandments simply says ‘thou shalt not kill.’ So, why are we sending religious people to support the conflicts and the killing?”

Farrow has had numerous solo exhibitions since 1970, and is currently represented by Catharine Clark Gallery in San Francisco. His work has been in group shows at the Oakland Art Gallery, the San Francisco Arts Commission Gallery, Falkirk Cultural Center in Marin, the San Francisco Art Institute, and the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento, among many others. He has more than 20 years of bronze casting experience. Farrow’s work is in many important public and private collections around the world, including the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the di Rosa Preserve in Napa, and other collections in New York, Germany, Italy, and Hong Kong.

"With subject matter as profound as Wrath & Reverence, we have an opportunity for a powerful and thought-provoking experience. A.P.E.X. Events is extremely honored to have partnered with SUMA on an event as evocative as this.”
