Chuck AaronA.P.E.X. Events – SUU’s Premier Event Series – is proud to present an event that features aviation with pilot Chuck Aaron! As a helicopter pilot specializing in film aerobatics, he is a living legend in the aviation world. From flight lessons all the way to flying the stunt helicopter in the James Bond film, Spectre, his career is incomparable. Join us on November 7 at 11:30 a.m. in the Great Hall on the campus of Southern Utah University.

Not many people can say that they were in a James Bond film, let alone say that they flew the helicopter in a fight scene. Aaron described the filming experience as “the coolest thing he has ever done.” After a series of numerous rehearsals in fields and airports, Aaron and the rest of the stunt team were ready for the full action shot over Zocalo Square in Mexico City. This flight and filming included maneuvers with vertical flights and dives, barrel rolls, loops, backflips - all over a city with a massive crowd below.

In addition to his professional work, he also runs the world’s first aerobatic helicopter flight training school, open to the public to enroll.

"Over the last 30 years, the industry relationships I’ve built and maintained have presented some incredible opportunities," said Aaron. "My passion and drive pushes me to be better and go bigger, which is why I wanted to create the world’s first aerobatic helicopter school. Anyone can take a course, and anyone can go for an introductory flight."

Aaron has received awards such as the 2011 Society of Experimental Test Pilots, 2013 Inducted in the Living Legends of Aviation, 2014 Helicopter Pilot of the Year, and the 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award from HAI.

"We all have been fascinated by the world of aircraft and the incredible stunts scenes in movies," said Dr. Lynn Vartan, director of A.P.E.X. Events. "Chuck Aaron’s experience is very unique, and this is a special presentation that A.P.E.X. is honored to offer its audience!”
