University Advancement Welcomes Two Team Members

Southern Utah University is proud to announce the addition of two new staff members in the University Advancement Office. Ryan Stringfellow will be serving as the new director of development and Becky Jakubowski will be serving as the assistant director of annual giving.

“Ryan and Becky bring years of experience and personal knowledge of the industry to the Advancement team,” said Stuart Jones, vice president for Advancement and Enrollment Management. “These two join an accomplished team and their presence will continue to elevate the office. I am confident they will serve the University with enthusiasm and passion and the impact of their work will be seen across campus. We are lucky to have them and welcome them to T-Bird Nation.”

Under the direction of the vice president of advancement and enrollment management, the director of development is responsible for developing and managing relations with major donors. They will work with individuals, corporations, and alumni to qualify, cultivate, steward, and solicit major donors to enhance connection and loyalty to the University.

Stringfellow joins the University after serving in similar roles at Duke University School of Medicine, St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado and NPR and PBS affiliate public media organizations in Western and Southern Colorado. He brings 15 years of major gift fundraising experience to SUU.

“I am looking forward to being part of the advancement team and to help with the great work already happening at SUU,” said Stringfellow. “SUU is a growing university with many loyal alumni, and I am excited to work with faculty, alumni and community partners to help grow philanthropic support for the university's initiatives.”

Becky Jakubowski, assistant director of annual givingAlong with him, Jakubowski serves as the assistant director of annual giving, managing fundraising efforts for donors and prospects who give on an annual basis. A long time resident of Cedar City, Jakubowski previously served in the Department of Enterprise Project Management at BYU and the Department of Donor Relations at Auburn University.

"Having lived in Cedar City for several years, I've been able to see the continual growth of SUU and all it has to offer its students and the community,” said Jakubowski. “I look forward to being a part of our advancement team and getting to know and work with the amazing alumni and friends of SUU."
