Local Job Fair at SUUAll Cedar City and surrounding area employers are invited to attend the semi-annual Local Job Fair hosted by Southern Utah University’s Career and Professional Development Center. The Local Job Fair is set to take place in person from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on September 15, 2021 in the Sharwan Smith Student Center Ballroom on SUU’s campus.

“The Local Job Fair allows students and employers to connect in a manner that benefits both parties,” Director of the Career & Professional Development Center, Brandon Street, said. “Employers get to meet great candidates in person, limiting the chance they make a poor choice based on filtering through applications and/or resumes. Students have the opportunity to meet with employers they are confident are hiring without having to go and find them. It really is a win, win situation for employers and students alike.”

Through SUU’s commitment to student success, the Local Job Fair gives students the chance to network with employers and explore available jobs in the local community. Held each semester, the event is designed to help connect employers with qualified students.

For those interested in recruiting student workers, registration is open on Handshake, an online recruiting platform for higher education students and alumni, and closes on September 1, 2021 at 5 p.m.

To further support SUU’s Career Center, sponsorship opportunities are available for employers interested in gaining more marketing exposure, and premium booth location at the fair. Sponsor registration closes on August 18 due to marketing lead time.

“The last year has been challenging for everyone, including students and alumni seeking job opportunities,” said McKinley Hatch, Career Center event coordinator. “The Career and Professional Development Center is excited to be hosting in-person fairs this year where students can network with employers face-to-face and explore different opportunities available to them.”
