Southern Utah University is excited to invite all faculty, staff and graduate students to attend a presentation by international speaker Justin Jones-Fosu. One of the keynotes of the Summit on Belonging, the presentation will be held on October 26 at 3:30 p.m. in the Great Hall of the Hunter Alumni Center.
“We are excited to continue building a culture that values, validates, and includes all SUU employees,” said Jayson Matlock, SUU Staff Association president. “The Office of Equity and Inclusion has prioritized establishing a stronger culture of belonging where all employees can thrive. We are confident that Justin will provide us with resources that we can use to better validate and connect with one another, and further establish an authentic culture of belonging within the SUU community!”
The Office of Equity and Inclusion and the Staff Association partnered to bring Jones-Fosu back to campus, as part of the first Summit on Belonging, held October 25 and 26, 2022. The conference-style gathering will provide the SUU community spaces for conversations, training, and the sharing of best practices to help the University advance belonging through diversity, inclusion, and equity efforts.
Jones-Fosu first visited SUU last year sharing his perspective on work-life and diversity. He shared practices to recognize the importance of treating each other with grace, and having authentic conversations that allow us to progress as humans. This year, he will discuss simple and tangible ways to expand our circles of grace and introduce tools for building a culture of belonging at SUU.
The first 200 people at the event will receive a free copy of Jones-Fosu’s book The Inclusive Mindset: How to Cultivate Diversity in Your Everyday Life. This book is for human resources professionals and the everyday person who would like to build real relationships with others.
