A.P.E.X. Presents Derek Charles Livingston “An Hour with Thurgood Marshall”

Southern Utah University's A.P.E.X. Events, in partnership with the Utah Shakespeare Festival, is joined this week by Utah Shakespeare Festival Interim Artistic Director and Director of New Play Development Derek Charles Livingston. Join A.P.E.X. Events on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. in the Great Hall of the Hunter Alumni Center for a performance of the play Thurgood by George Stevens Jr.
Since the early 90s Livingston has been surrounded by the world of fine arts, specifically the extensive world of theater. Livingston graduated from Brown University with a bachelor's degree in theater, and then continued to the University of California, Los Angeles, to receive a Master of Fine Arts in Film Production/Direction. He has been involved in everything from small freelance theater productions, to his newest roles as interim artistic director and director of new play development at the Utah Shakespeare Festival.
With a long and experienced resume filled with acting, directing, and producing, Livingston has directed and/or produced many acclaimed plays and musicals, receiving many awards and nominations. Some of his more notable productions have been Thurgood, The Pillowman, and The Whipping Man. Livingston has become an established and well-known leader of the Utah Shakespeare Festival and Cedar City community.
A.P.E.X. Events is SUU’s premier weekly lecture series, with speakers and presenters invited from all areas of the world. While on campus, guests are invited to interact with students and faculty in multiple ways, with opportunities to connect and network in vast areas of scholarship. All A.P.E.X.
