Seven Students Nominated for Board of Trustees Scholarship

The Southern Utah University Board of Trustees Scholarship is funded by SUU’s Board of Trustees and awarded to one outstanding SUU student at the end of their junior year. This is one of the most prestigious scholarships offered by the University, with students being nominated by their colleges, and the seven finalists represent the best of SUU.
Beverley Taylor Sorensen College of Education and Human Development
Alyssa Iriart has been named the 2023 finalist for the Beverley Taylor Sorensen College of Education and Human Development. She is majoring in elementary education and minoring in family services and plans to be a teacher for a few years before getting her master’s degree in administration.
College of Engineering and Computational Science
Keily Isabel Monzón De León has been named the 2023 finalist for the Southern Utah University Board of Trustees Scholarship for the College of Engineering and Computational Science. She is majoring in engineering technology with an emphasis in CAD Architectural and Civil Design, and minoring in Construction Technology. She plans to work in construction and architecture to save money to go to graduate school after graduation.
College of Health Sciences
Madelyn Gamble has been named the 2023 finalist for the College of Health Sciences. She is majoring in nursing and minoring in early childhood development and plans to work as a nurse in oncology, pediatrics, or emergency units. After graduation, she hopes to further her education and become a nurse practitioner.
College of Humanities and Social Science
Wyatt Read has been named the 2023 finalist for the College of Humanities and Social Science. He is majoring in psychology and plans to continue his academic journey in graduate school after graduation.
College of Visual and Performing Arts
Galina Hasanova has been named the 2023 finalist for the College of Visual and Performing Arts. She is majoring in Illustration with a minor in Graphic Design and plans to work and earn enough money to attend graduate school after graduation.
Dixie L. Leavitt School of Business
Allie Quarnberg has been named the 2023 finalist for the Dixie L. Leavitt School of Business. She is majoring in accounting and plans to get her master’s degree in accounting following graduation.
Walter Maxwell Gibson College of Sciences
Kylee Stoddard has been named the 2023 finalist for the Walter Maxwell Gibson College of Sciences. She is majoring in chemistry with a healthcare emphasis and plans to attend dental school for orthodontics or graduate school for chemistry after graduation.
