Admitted International Student Ranked 2nd Place in American Samoa for Science

Originally from the Philippines and now living in American Samoa, Viesca graduated as valedictorian from Fa'asao Marist High School, where she achieved and ranked second place in the state for science. Her dedication to scientific inquiry has been showcased through impressive accomplishments in various science fairs and competitions, representing her island nation with distinction.

Her achievements include:

  • 2nd Overall in American Samoa Science Fair
  • 2nd Overall in American Samoa Science Symposium
  • Finalist in the 2024 International Science and Engineering Fair (Los Angeles, California)
  • Representative of American Samoa in the 2024 Hawaii Junior Science and Humanities Symposium

“Princess Jazelle Viesca is a talented young woman with a long list of academic achievements; SUU is incredibly honored that she has decided to enroll at SUU,” said Dr. Stephen Allen, vice president for international affairs. “We are excited to welcome Princess to campus where she will have access to cutting-edge facilities, top-notch faculty, and opportunities to engage in meaningful undergraduate research.
