This prestigious program represents a significant step in her journey toward the goal of becoming a military chaplain.

Originally from Highland, Utah, Gilmore started her academic path before arriving at SUU by earning her associate degree through the UVU Live Interactive Program while attending Lone Peak High School. Her decision to continue her studies as an anthropology major at SUU was influenced by the University's vibrant community and engaging student life.

“Julia was a delight as a student,” said Crystal Koenig, assistant professor of anthropology at SUU. “Her curiosity and bright intellect were matched only by her ability to make connections that extended beyond the content being taught. It was incredibly rewarding to hear her talk passionately about her capstone project, which solidified her career goal of becoming a military chaplain.”

Gilmore's experiences at SUU helped shape her academic and career aspirations. During her time at SUU, she was deeply involved in her studies and community, building a strong sense of school spirit that continues to be an important part of her identity. Her professors noted that while Julia’s exceptional talents were clear, she remained modest and humble throughout her time at SUU.

“We are so proud to celebrate Julia’s successes,” said Koenig. “Her humility and dedication have always stood out. We are confident that she will continue to excel and make a significant impact in her field.”
At Yale Divinity School, Gilmore aims to provide compassionate spiritual support through both ministry and theological practice. She is grateful for the foundational experiences and mentorship she received at SUU, which she claims has benefitted her academic and personal growth.

“I am always proud to be a T-Bird,” Gilmore said. “The support and inspiration I received from my professors and peers at SUU have been instrumental in my journey. As I move forward in my studies, I carry with me the strong sense of community and the T-Bird spirit continues to be an important part of my identity.”
