Cedar City, UTAH–
Iron County Holiday Assistance (Sub for Santa) 2024 took place under the direction of the Southern Utah University Community Engagement Center. The National Guard Armory served as the lead agency and coordinator for this year’s donations with many other local agencies helping provide Christmas presents for families. This year, the Iron County Holiday Assistance served just under 700 families and more than 1,800 children. Deliveries happened the week of Dec. 9-13.
Associated with Toys for Tots, Iron County Holiday Assistance provides Christmas gifts for families in our community who need help during the holiday season. Families who meet this criteria and have children ages 0-17 (or 18 years of age if they are still enrolled in high school) are eligible for applications open in mid-to-late November and closed in early December. The program relies primarily on volunteers and donations from local individuals, families, and organizations, as well as programs such as Toys for Tots, Shop With a Cop, and others to ensure that families who need assistance during the holidays are able to receive it.
Pam Branin, Director of the SUU Community Engagement Center, stated, “I’m so grateful for the many, many SUU students, alumni, and employees, as well as community members, who helped make the holiday season a little brighter for our friends and neighbors.”
Although applications for receiving families have already been closed for this year, there are still several opportunities for SUU students and community members to make the holidays a magical time for others. Help make a difference in the lives of community members this holiday season and donate today! Learn more on SUU’s website; volunteer opportunities are also listed online. Help out through the Iron County Care and Share Holiday Meal Box program.Contact Information:
