Southern Utah University’s Department of Theatre, Dance, and Arts Administration proudly presents the spring Student Dance Concert, Looking Out. This dynamic and thought-provoking concert will run March 6-8, 2025 at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee performance on March 8th at 2:00 p.m. All performances will take place in the Eileen and Allen Anes Studio Theatre.
Looking Out showcases the creative voices of SUU’s talented student choreographers and dancers, exploring themes of perspective, connection, and self-discovery through the art of movement. Featuring a diverse range of choreographic styles, the concert highlights the technical and artistic growth of students in SUU’s Dance program while offering audiences a compelling and immersive experience.
“Directing [this] concert has been a gift,” said Artistic Director, Nancy Dobbs Owen. “These young, talented choreographers have a lot to say–in crafting their dances, they each ‘look out’ at a complicated and exciting world. I hope the different styles, musical choices, and unique approaches to dance in this concert excite you aesthetically, engage you emotionally, and challenge your perceptions of the art form.”
This year’s student choreographers include Bry Wright, Katelin Pugh, Mariah Godfrey, Hannah Croft, Joshua Vongphakdy, Gracie Rae Urban-Breed, Maria del Valle Pino Cruz, and Ashley Thormahlen. Each piece represents the choreographers’ unique points of view, examining the ways in which individuals perceive the world around them. Through movement, lighting, and music, the concert invites audiences to reflect on their own perspectives and experiences.
Don’t miss this inspiring concert, celebrating the next generation of performing artists. Tickets for Looking Out are available online at bard.org/tdaa or up to thirty minutes before each performance at the Utah Shakespeare Festival Ticket Office. Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for alumni, and $6 for youth and non-SUU students. As always, SUU students, faculty, and staff are admitted free of charge with a valid SUU I.D.
