Keegan CoxSouthern Utah University alumnus Keegan Cox is making strides in the financial industry as a Senior Research Associate at D.A. Davidson. Originally from Magna, Utah, Cox discovered his passion for investment management during his time at SUU, where he studied Finance and Economics.

"My experiences at SUU introduced me to the finance industry and helped me realize that was the career path I wanted to take," said Cox.

Extracurricularly, Cox participated in the CFA Challenge and Investment Scholars Group, an annual global equity research competition that provides university students with hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis.

Now, in his role at D.A. Davidson, he conducts in-depth stock research for hedge funds, mutual funds, and family offices, using financial modeling and investment thesis development to provide clients with valuable insights.

Cox was promoted to Senior Research Associate in November of 2024 and has already begun independently covering stock—an uncommon achievement for professionals with fewer than five years of experience.

"I enjoy digging deep into companies and uncovering timely insights for our clients," said Cox. "The relationships you can build with clients and management teams are highly rewarding."

Cox credits his SUU education for preparing him for his role, stating that concepts from his Investments and Commodity Futures classes are directly applicable to his daily work. His ability to analyze financial statements, perform discounted cash flow valuations, and craft detailed investment reports stems from the skills he learned at SUU.

SUU takes pride in highlighting the remarkable accomplishments of its alumni. Cox’s journey exemplifies how SUU’s hands-on learning experiences and strong academic foundation prepare students for successful careers.
