Adult Learner Grant

The Adult Learner Grant Program was created and funded by the State of Utah to provide financial assistance for adult learners pursuing an online graduate degree that leads to high-demand, high-wage jobs. This one-time scholarship applies to select master's degrees. Awards may be applied to Fall 2023, Spring 2024, and Summer 2024.

Please Note: As of August 24th, all funds for the Adult Learner Grant have been awarded. All applications submitted before the priority deadline will still be considered for funding if more becomes available in the future.

Grant Requirements

This grant is awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis at the graduate level. Students may qualify for up to the cost of attendance. To qualify, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be 26 years or older
  • Be enrolled in an online graduate program in a field designed to meet industry needs.
  • Be a Utah resident
  • You must register in a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester*  

*Must be enrolled for a minimum of 6 credit hours for each  semester of the award period. The maximum award is $1033.33  per semester and does not increase for credits taken above 6 credits.

Grant funding will be prioritized for students who:

  • Meet the priority deadline to submit the scholarship application. For best consideration please submit your application by August 20, 2023. The final deadline for this grant will be November 26, 2023 at 11:59 PM MT.
  • Are from rural areas of the state, as defined by the Department of Health, which includes all counties except Utah, Salt Lake, Davis, Cache, & Weber or
  • Are a member of a racial or ethnic minority and
  • Are pursuing an online graduate degree from the list of eligible programs listed below:

 Any fluctuations in your credit load over the course of the scholarship period may affect your scholarship coverage. Please reach out to christopherdimond@suu.edu the SUU Online Financial Aid Office prior to registration, should you want to deviate from the anticipated credit load amount on your scholarship application.
