Developing the Leader in You

Utah Rural Leadership Academy (URLA) facilitates powerful exercises and active learning opportunities designed to assist emerging and established leaders in Utah’s rural communities. The objective of the Academy is to develop a leadership network and to equip the state’s county leaders with administration and leadership skills through relevant experiential learning modules. Key relationship building will be combined with content that is designed to assist in keeping counties operating vibrantly, responding to demands, and preparing for the future.

Rural Governance Incubator

SUU Professional and Workforce Development and the MPA program development of a "Rural Governance Incubator." This incubator will be designed to workshop key issues and build solutions for addressing current and relevant opportunities and challenges facing Utah's rural communities.

  • Participants will be able to apply critical thinking skills to analyze and offer solutions to real rural problems and issues facing Utah’s rural communities
  • Participants will receive baseline training in alignment with an accredited university master’s of public administration program resulting in training in key areas associated with public service
  • Participants will be able to apply points of instruction to public service duties in rural communities throughout Utah
