SUU PREP

Applications for SUU PREP 2024 are now closed.

SUU PREP is a free summer academic program operated by the SUU College of Engineering & Computational Sciences. We provide three summers of rigorous academic instruction, educational hands-on projects, challenging homework assignments, and daily career awareness for 7th, 8th, and 9th grade students who have an interest and aptitude in Science, Technology, Engineering, and/or Mathematics fields. SUU PREP strives to provide opportunities for high achieving students to pursue STEM studies and careers. Underrepresented and first generation students are encouraged to apply.

Important Dates

  • Applications Open: February 15, 2024
  • Applications Close: May 1, 2024
  • Year 2 and 3 New Student Test Deadline: May 1, 2024
  • Mandatory Parent Meeting: May 31, 2024 at 5:30pm, and June 3rd at 9:30am.  (Engineering and Technology Building, Room 113)
  • Program Dates: 
    • Classes: June 3 - June 21, 2024
    • Break: June 24 - July 5, 2024
    • Classes: July 8 - 26, 2024
  • Closing Ceremony & Awards: Friday, July 26, 2024 (Time & Location TBA)

Admission Requirements:

  • Iron County School District student currently enrolled in 6th, 7th, or 8th grade
    • If you attend a charter, private or homeschool, we do have a limited number of spaces available. Please contact cecs@suu.edu for details.
  • 86% or better in current mathematics class, must be in good standing in all classes (No D, F, N, U grades)
  • Fill out the application and all necessary application requirements.

Program Requirements:


  • Attend all 6 weeks of SUU PREP
    • A maximum of 3 absences are allowed. If your summer plans would require an absence beyond 4 days, please do not apply. 
    • Friday field trips are optional and do not count toward allotted absences.
  • Arrange transportation to and from SUU PREP daily.
  • Bring lunch each day of the camp.
  • Complete daily homework and class work assignments. 
    • Three missed assignments may result in the student missing a Friday field trip.
