Participant Application Process
To be selected as an Academy participant, one must demonstrate excellence through academics, leadership, extra-curricular involvement, personal achievement, and community service. These students maintain ambitions to succeed that are strengthened and reinforced during the Academy experience.
Appointment into the Governor's Honors Academy entitles students to return as leaders to their own high schools with:
- An opportunity to earn six college credits
- Collegiate orientations to develop into their future
- Broader visions of personal potential for success
- Keener abilities to create and implement new ideas
- Acquired skills in group dynamics
- Excelled development of personal goals and achievement
- In-depth understanding of societal trends and current issues
To apply:
Note: All application requirements are due in the GHA Office by 5 p.m. on March 7, 2008. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Requirements include:
- 2009 GHA Application [will be available January 5, 2009.]
- Three on-line letters of recommendation [online recommendation will be available January 5, 2009.]
- An official transcript.
- A 750 word personal essay answering the question: "What events in
your life have defined who you are?"
- Resume.
