  10th Anniversary Milestones

2007-08

  • January USF hosts the Shakespeare Theatre Association of America (STAA) National Conference in Cedar City making it the only Shakespeare Company to host the conference twice
  • January Eccles Visiting Artist Susan Hadley choreographs new work that is performed by SUU students in March Faculty Dance Concert
  • January long-standing staff Technical Director position is converted to Assistant Professor in Theatre tenure-track faculty line in Theatre Arts & Dance
  • January Ballroom Dance and Acclamation are made affiliates of the College of Performing and Visual Arts
  • February Dr. Virginia Stitt is recognized by the Utah Music Educators Association as Music Educator of the Year
  • February Adrianne Tawa (01) named Outstanding Utah High School Music Teacher by the Utah Music Educators in December.
  • March Annual Friends of the Braithwaite Art Auction raises over $34,000, a new record
  • April Randall L. Jones Theatre remodeling completed
  • May the Bachelor of Music (BM) and Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Theatre degrees approved by the Board of Regents

Arlene Braithwaite, Associate Professor of Art, was named Higher Education Art Educator of the Year for 2009.  This recognition is for outstanding service in art education at the college/university level. Read the entire press release here.

Welcome to the College of Performing and Visual Arts

We offer students opportunities to develop as artists and scholars through a wide range of courses and experiences designed to broaden their knowledge and increase their skills. Numerous performances, recitals, special events, and exhibitions throughout the year provide ways to apply what is learned in the classroom, studio, or rehearsal setting. Our talented and dedicated faculty and staff are deeply committed to the development and future success of our students.
