The holiday season is the best time for making family memories. Baking cookies and treats with children is fun, but why not make something that is longer lasting and sure to delight family members on your gift list?
Kids of all ages love to craft, and there's nothing more meaningful than spending time with your children helping them use their imagination. Alisa Petersen, The Beverley Taylor Sorenson Endowed Chair of Elementary Arts Education at Southern Utah University, shares how encouraging creativity in your kids can make your holiday season one to remember.
“Creating personalized gifts with your kids allows you to slow down during the busy holiday season creating deeper bonds and lasting memories,” said Petersen. “Making presents from your child’s art makes gifts very personal and validates the child by saying what you created is so great, let’s capture it in a more permanent way."
These 3 easy and affordable DIY projects will make any adult smile this Christmas.
- Beautiful tissue paper candles turn hand-drawn art into precious gifts.
- Transfer a plain, white mug into a personalized dishwasher safe keepsake treasure.
- Burn your kid’s art onto a wood-burned cutting board that will last a lifetime.
Rather than spending more money on gifts this holiday, spend time inspiring creativity, building confidence, and creating lifelong memories with your kids.
