10 Things to Do Near Cedar City This Summer Under $10

Summers in Cedar City are filled with outdoor activities, festivals, and theatrical productions that are fun for all ages. We know many summer activities can cost more than your budget allows, so here are the 10 things you can do for $10 or less in Cedar City this summer.
1. Star Parties at Cedar Breaks National Monument
Where: Cedar Breaks
When: Saturday Evenings
Price: $7 (park entrance)
If you are in Cedar City and the weather permits, Star Parties are held every Saturday in Cedar Breaks National Monument. These Star Parties are held by park rangers and volunteer astronomers at Point Supreme Overlook. This is a great opportunity to view the night sky from an array of telescopes and experience constellation tours. There is no reservation required to attend these events and while the event is free, it does cost $7 for park entrance.
Events change year to year, we recommend visiting the park website to confirm Star Parties are happening before heading up the canyon.
2. Brian Head Resort

When: Summer Weekends
Price: FREE
Brian Head Resort hosts events throughout the summer and many are free like the concerts and Festival of Flavors. Events include food and fun for any age. Also included is a bungee trampoline, archery, zipline, and a climbing wall for an additional cost. This is a fun way to get outside and see what this ski resort looks like in the off-season.
3. Independence Day Celebrations
Where: Parowan & Cedar City
When: July 4
Price: FREE
If you happen to be around Cedar City during the Fourth of July holiday weekend, there is a lot to do. Both Parowan and Cedar City have events throughout the day. Each has a parade down the main street as well as vendors and activities going on downtown. Admission to these events is free and the night ends with a fabulous fireworks display.
4. Cedar Breaks National Monument Wildflower Festival

The plant life around Cedar City comes alive in the summertime. One of the more beautiful places to experience this is at the Wildflower Festival in Cedar Breaks National Monument. This event is typically held throughout the month of July. The event itself is free, however, it does cost $7 for park entrance.
5. Utah Midsummer Renaissance Faire
Where: Cedar City

Price: FREE
If you want to pretend you live in medieval times, Cedar City hosts an annual Utah Midsummer Renaissance Fair. This event is held in Main Street Park where vendors gather and families and friends come for great summer festivities. There are places to buy home decor, get henna tattoos, and even leather goods. Most people in attendance celebrate by dressing the part and learning about renaissance history.
6. July Jamboree
Where: Cedar City
When: July
Price: FREE
Fast cars, fun times, good music and old friends are what make Cedar City’s July Jamboree one of the greatest events in southern Utah. More than 200 classic cars, and highly modified custom street rods, will take over Main Street in Cedar City for one of the biggest block parties in Festival City USA.
7. Brian Head Resort Car Show

Another great event not far from Cedar City is the Brian Head Resort Car Show. There are vendors present as well as the opportunity to go on a scavenger hunt, participate in drawings, and judge vehicles. This is a fun way for friends and family to enjoy the outdoors and see some classic vehicles.
8. Final Friday Art Walks
Where: Downtown Cedar City
When: June-September, last Friday of the month
Price: FREE
Spend some time in downtown Cedar City with the Final Friday Art Walk. The event is held at various locations along Main Street and University Blvd (about 25 N Main St to University Blvd then west to 300 W University Blvd) on the last Friday of the month. Visit with artists, see beautiful art pieces made using a variety of mediums, and maybe purchase a new piece to add to your collection. 9. Iron County Fair

If you want to stay local and have some free time, the Iron County Fair is a fun event to attend. Each year includes a rodeo, parade, carnival, car show, demolition derby and much more. 10. Explore Southern Utah!
The last thing to do in Cedar City over the summer isn’t a specific event. We want to remind you that there are lots of fun activities to do in town over the summer and SUU Outdoors rents equipment all year.
