SUU’s Communication Media Studies emphasis equips students with practical media production skills across various platforms. Students gain hands-on experience through campus media outlets like the University Journal, SUTV television studio, and KSUU Thunder 91 radio. They also work with The Advertising Group (TAG), a student-run agency delivering real-world results. The curriculum includes courses in media content creation, web design, and production, preparing graduates for careers in news writing, video production, social media management, and more.

The Messaging & Human Interaction Emphasis focuses on crafting effective messages to enhance personal and professional relationships. It teaches students to create persuasive content through research, analysis, and revision, and develops skills in writing and public speaking. Unique to SUU, the program offers virtual reality and eye-tracking software for advanced non-verbal communication training.
