Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety
The Office of Enterprise Risk Management is responsible for maintaining an environment of health and safety here on SUU’s campus. We provide important information about federal, state, and local health and safety regulations as well as current professional practices and guidelines. Our goal is to prevent injury, illnesses and environmental damage through the recognition, evaluation, and control of potential hazards arising from university activities. This is accomplished through supportive services to university departments that ensure a safe and healthy environment for all students, faculty, staff and visitors at Southern Utah University and the surrounding community.
Our services include assisting the university in compliance with regulations and training university personnel and students in appropriate safety measures. Southern Utah University is also committed to the safety of its employees. The Occupational Safety program improves the safety of the work environment through recognition, evaluation, and control of hazardous conditions and strives to reduce the frequency and severity of injuries to faculty, students, and staff through training, implementation of safe work practices, and compliance with regulatory requirements of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and various state and local codes.
