SUU to Dentist

Madison Day, fascinated by the practice of dentistry, knew from the age of eight that should be her career. Of course, though, at that age she didn’t quite know how to get there.

Providentially, SUU was the first step in the process that today has her not only practicing as a respected dentist, but—as an assistant clinical professor at the University of Utah—helping others to also do so.

The West Jordan, Utah, product and 2011 Bingham High grad credits her experiences here that led her to teach, as well, as she tutored on campus in the often-forbidding subject of organic chemistry, and reveled in the satisfaction of making it easy for others.

“Thus, the spark for education had arrived,” she says of the experience.

SUU was her choice for higher education due to its affordability and, also, she says smilingly, “It was the farthest in-state university from home and gave me independence.” Her brother Josh (’10) preceded her here.

She says she has never regretted her choice and is thankful for the confidence her SUU experiences instilled in her.

“At SUU I learned to never settle for anything less than what I was striving for. I had my goals set high and gained the resources and talents to achieve those goals through my involvement in clubs and organizations on campus.”

She also greatly appreciates her SUU professors for their attentiveness and passion about that which they taught.

“That helped me to be eager and excited about what I was learning, and I learned things in each of my classes that I still use to this day. My courses were always very practical,” says Dr. Day.

She is planning a fall wedding in addition to her dual career, her obsession with the Marvel world, fantasy and mystery novels, running and Orange Theory fitness, as well as her dedication to her dog Bruce and cat Lester.
