Employee Wellness Program
SUU’s Employee Wellness Program is a semester-long series of challenges designed to improve the overall health of SUU faculty and staff. Participate in activities to earn points, build healthy habits, and win prizes!
Fall 2024: Nutrition
This semester we are inviting SUU employees to focus on food! Join us in a series of weekly, monthly, and semester challenges to increase your nutritional wellness.

After signing up, you will receive access to the self-tracker spreadsheet. Simply follow along and log your challenge progress.
Wellness Challenge Details
By completing Wellness Program challenges and tracking your progress you can earn points. At the end-of-semester wrap-up ceremony, participants cash in their points and win prizes! Past prizes have included many fun things such as hammocks, sports equipment, kitchen appliances, Bluetooth earbuds, SUU merch, and more. There is a prize for everyone!
- The last day to enter points for the fall semester is 11/30/2024.
- The closing prize ceremony for the fall semester will be on 12/4/2024 at 10 am. Please try to attend in person to make the prize giveaway easier, but you can attend by Zoom if you need to.
Weekly challenges must be done at least once a week to earn the associated points.
Healthy Habits
Improve your health by incrementally eliminating sweets, fast food, or soda.Example:
- If you regularly get fast food, change it up and order a more nutritious option or cook the meal at home.
Meal Prepping
Select one day a week to plan a meal or two for the week.Example:
- On Monday pick two meals to make that week and make a grocery list for them.
Hydration
Try to regularly drink at least 64 oz of water a day, or 8 glasses of water.30 day initiatives must be completed at least once in the 30 day period to earn the associated points.
Food Class 1
Attend the cooking class from Chartwells, September 28th from noon to 1 pm.OR
Make the recipe from the class.
Nutrition Seminar

Attend or watch the recording of this cooking class at Southwest tech. Southwest Tech, November 6th from 5:30-6:30.Semester initiatives must be completed at least once in the course of the semester to earn the associated points.
Attend the Heath and Wellness Fair (Oct 18th)
Review materials are offered online afterwards if you cannot attend in person.Share your favorite recipe with benefits@suu.edu
Send a copy of your favorite recipe to benefits@suu.edu. At the end of the semester we will share a cookbook with all of the recipes.Red Handed Award
Honor good work above and beyond job duties for faculty, staff, students, and external constituents on campus by submitting a Red Handed award nomination.Ongoing Campus Initiatives are open continuously and can be completed weekly to earn the associated points.
Across Campus
This is probably the broadest activity. Literally participating in any activity that is associated with SUU!Examples:
- Attending a Faculty-Senate meeting
- Going to a sports game
- Joining a club
Recycle/Reuse
Do anything associated with saving energy, reusing materials, or thinking of the environment.Examples:
- Using reusable water bottles or shopping bags
- Using biodegradable packaging
- Recycling eligible trash and waste
- Walking or biking to/from work
