Legal Advice
The Office of Legal Affairs is available to assist University employees on legal matters when they are acting on behalf of Southern Utah University. The Office of Legal Affairs owes its duty to the University as it’s client, and not any individual. The University itself holds the attorney-client privilege. This means that the University controls that privilege and when it may be waived. There is no additional confidentiality specific to you as an individual. But to the extent you are seeking legal advice from the Office of Legal Affairs as someone acting on behalf of the University, you are required to keep those communications and advice confidential. If you have questions about whether you are acting on behalf of the University, please do not submit your request here--instead, first call our Office.
