SUBJECT: SUU A.P.E.X. Committee [TEMPORARY]


I. PURPOSE

The A.P.E.X. (Ask. Ponder. Educate. [X]) Event Series adds depth, richness, and opportunity for personal, professional growth for the University as well as regional community. The series brings guests to campus from all areas of academic, cultural, and creative realms, and allows the campus community to hear, absorb, and be exposed to a wide range of events. The A.P.E.X. Events Committee serves as a campus-wide advisory committee that assists in the selection of campus visitors for the A.P.E.X. Events Series.

IV. POLICY

  1. Administration: A.P.E.X. Events is under the general administrative supervision of the Office of the Provost, and the series is directed and implemented by a faculty/staff member with support staff as necessary. A.P.E.X Events is offered for credit from APEX 2010 Passport to SUU.
  2. Partnerships: A.P.E.X Events coordinates with the following entities on an annual basis:
    • The Eccles Visiting Scholar Lectures
    • The Grace A. Tanner Lecture
    • The SUU Distinguished Faculty Scholar Committee

    Other regular and consistent partnerships that function in the same manner and advise on the selection of speakers include but are not limited to:
    •  Hispanic Heritage Month
    • Black History Month
    • Native American Week
    • Disabilities Week
    • The SUU International Film Festival
    • The Leavitt Center for Politics
    • Live Court
    • Alumni Relations
  3.  Committee Membership and Responsibilities: The A.P.E.X. Events Committee is made up of the following members, who serve up to a three-year term. The responsibility of the committee is to assist with the choosing of speakers outside of the above-mentioned partnerships, and typically meets twice a year:
    1. One (1) faculty member from each College/School and the Library;
    2. The A.P.E.X Events Director; and
    3. Student representative, typically the A.P.E.X Marketing Director.
  4. Funding: The primary funding source is academic support allocated by the Provost.
