SUBJECT: Honors Program and Council
IV. POLICY
- Honors Program
- The Honors Program provides enrichment opportunities for academically qualified students in an interdisciplinary undergraduate experience. The program provides both a general educational and an upper-division component.
- The Honors Program is under the general administrative supervision of the Provost’s Office. Staffing for the Honors Program includes a Director. Governance of the Honors Program is delegated to the University’s Honors Council.
- Honors Council
- The Council serves as an advisory council with responsibility for governing the honors program of the University.
- Membership of the Council shall consist of:
- One (1) faculty member from each College/School and the Library, recommended by their respective Dean and appointed by the Provost for a two-year term. The membership should be staggered.
- Two (2) faculty members appointed by the Faculty Senate for a two-year term. The membership should be staggered.
- The President and Vice-President of the Student Honors Council.
- The chair of the Council will be the Honors Program Director.
- Responsibilities: The Council will provide general support in curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation.
VI. QUESTIONS/RESPONSIBLE OFFICE
