SPARC Mission Statement
The Sponsored Programs, Research, Agreements and Contracts (SPARC) Office at Southern Utah University (often referred to as the “Sponsored Programs” or “Grants” Office) promotes externally funded research, training, student supports, and other pilot projects. SPARC is a central source of information on the rules and regulations of major government agencies, foundations, and corporations which provide contractual support for research and scholarship.
SPARC assists faculty members, administrators, and students with the full grant lifecycle. This encompasses proposal planning and development through implementation and management of funded projects, which includes activities such as: identifying potential external funding sources; developing proposal narratives and budgets; completing standardized application forms and internal approvals; assuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and university regulations; negotiating grant awards and contracts; and administering and closing out funded projects.
The Office of Institutional Advancement assists in developing gifts and donations through corporations, foundations, alumni, and other private individuals.
