Whatever your degree or career goals are, summer semester can help you achieve them. Take classes over the summer to meet prerequisites, fulfill major requirements, boost your GPA, and graduate on time or early! More summer courses are now being offered at Southern Utah University, here are our top three reasons why you should take summer courses.
- Academic Success and Advancement
Summer classes are usually smaller, which means more one-on-one time with your professors and hands-on learning opportunities. Plus, you'll get the same high-quality instruction from the same world-class professors as you do in the fall and spring.
Because so many prerequisites and general education courses are available, summer semester can help students get a jump start on their education and graduate early. Approximately 71% of SUU’s degree programs will be available for the summer semester of 2020.
The summer semester is also more flexible. So if you’re attending college around work and family life, or planning on leaving for a mission, SUU’s shorter summer sessions and flexible online courses can make it possible to advance your degree while still keeping up with your busy personal life.
- Opportunities for Jobs on Campus
Finding a college job in a small town like Cedar City can be a challenge, but during the summer semester lots of positions become available, allowing students to choose from a wider variety of job opportunities. This summer there are over 200 summer-exclusive jobs and internships on campus that were specifically created for students staying for summer semester. Most of these positions are eligible for internship credits and will give students hands-on experience in their chosen field. All summer jobs will be listed at my.suu.edu/jobs.
- Location/Student Life
The summer is the best time to explore all the prominent national parks located near SUU. Also, thanks to the Utah Summer Games, Utah Shakespeare Festival, and countless community events, Cedar City is a cost-effective and fun place for students to spend their summer.
As an added bonus, students can use federal financial aid and SUU scholarships to cover the cost of summer semester. So if you’re looking for better job opportunities, a step ahead in your education, or an affordable and adventure-filled summer, then register for your summer courses today!
