Antwan Marshal transferred to Southern Utah University for more educational opportunities and a chance to play football for the Thunderbirds.

He owes a lot of his success to the coaching staff and teammates who motivated him to finish school and earn a degree.

“Coach Teag was a great mentor,” said Marshal. “He told me something that has always stuck with me; ‘Football does not last forever, but a degree does.’”

After graduating with a general studies degree, Marshal played arena football for a short time. However, a knee injury made him re-evaluate his career path. He remembered a music class he took at SUU, which inspired him to pursue a musical lifestyle.

He now works as a Rap Artist full time and has been on tour with Audio Push, Crooked I, Jay Beezy and more. Mashal said his favorite part of the job is interacting with the crowd and seeing their reaction to his music.

“At SUU I learned that there is a place and time for everything. I learned I was a multifaceted individual,” said Marshal. “Southern Utah is more than a university, it’s a family.”
