Born with a genetic disease, David Nelson was always given limitations. Through his adversaries,  David developed a drive to overcome his challenges. He wanted prove that though he had these limitations, he could still receive a degree at Southern Utah University.

With theatre arts/stage management selected as his major; David was cast in Pippin the musical in his freshman year.

“I couldn’t believe that during my first year I was cast in a show,” explained David. “It was then that I met Fred Adams and Scott Phillips, two instructors that saw my abilities when no one else before did. Because of those two gentleman I was able to learn and graduate.”

During his time at SUU, David performed in several other shows and fell more in love with the theatre. He was even able to get internships with touring companies.

After graduation, David went on to work as a stage manager for 2002 Winter Olympics. He now works for Marriott Hotels, while volunteering bi-annually at Salt Lake Comic Con and pursuing his love for theatre arts.
