Hayden Hawks came to Southern Utah University with a passion for running and the great outdoors.
Hayden credits Eric Houle, SUU cross country head coach, for his increased speed, endurance and mental stamina. Through the encouragement from caring coaches and teammates, Hayden developed confidence and a desire to always push himself.
Shortly after earning his degree from SUU, Hayden qualified for the USA National Mountain Running Team and competed in Bulgaria at the World Championships.
“It was an honor and a dream come true to wear the USA jersey and represent my country,” said Hayden.
Recently, Hayden won the Speedgoat 50K, one of the hardest 50K trail races in North America. The unprecedented win gained Hayden national exposure and sponsorship deals with several running and outdoor gear companies.
SUU taught Hayden that if a person isn’t afraid to just ‘go for it,’ they can do what they love and be successful.
