Janese Pentico originally enrolled at Southern Utah University to become a music teacher, but through a variety of performance classes, Janese’s natural talents started to shine. Her professors began to nudge her towards opera, a more classical and difficult direction.
“I had the best teachers and mentors,” said Janese. “They set high expectations and encouraged me to surpass them. To this day, my teachers are still giving their time to help me succeed. I’m always very proud to say I graduated from Southern Utah University.”
After graduating in 2015, Janese accepted a position at Milford High School as a music teacher, but after a year she realized how much she missed performing. Throwing herself back into the art, she was chosen to sing at the Franco American Vocal Academy in Périgueux, France. She will continue her education with a masters in vocal performance at North Park University in Chicago.
“Because of the opportunities my SUU professors gave me, I learned to have confidence in my abilities,” said Janese. “I play to my strengths.”
