After earning his Associates of Arts from another college, Lee Wiley was drawn to Southern Utah University when it came time to pursue a bachelor’s.
“I loved that SUU was a very personal place,” said Lee. “It was comfortable, yet there was a drive for excellence.”
Lee worked on a variety of projects during his time in school, including illustration, animation, design, and just about anything creative that he could get his hands on. He also worked on creating his own comics, which earned him a small scholarship.
Lee now works for a video marketing company, Ydraw, as their lead video editor, animator, illustrator, and all around creative resource. He says his favorite part of the job is being creative and telling stories that connect with people.
“All that hard work pays off, when you get a genuine emotional reaction from your audience.”
In addition to his job, Lee continues to illustrate his own comics and graphic novels, which he sells online and at comic conventions. Most recently, he started a YouTube channel that features family friendly sketch comedy.“At SUU, I learned that when I get really excited about a project that I have to finish it,” said Lee. “I would set my mind to get what I wanted most out of the project. If you work hard and work closely with faculty and peers, then put your faith in SUU to get you where you want to go.”
